Nearly all colleges in the U.S., and many universities outside of the U.S., accept applicants who have earned a GED diploma. The GED diploma is also widely accepted by employers as an alternative to a high school diploma. The GED program provides a pathway to more employment opportunities and higher pay, compared to those who do not have a GED or a high school diploma.
The Namibian Qualifications Authority has evaluated the GED and found it to be comparable to a Certificate at NQF Level 4 of the National Qualifications Framework for Namibia. That means that the GED is comparable to a Namibian Grade 12 certificate. Depending on how much schooling you’ve done, you could have your high school diploma within a short period of time.
The GED test is comprised of four subjects: math, science, social studies, and language arts. Each exam tests a student’s knowledge of topics covered in a typical high school classroom, from history and government to life science and algebra. Exams are taken on a computer in a GED test center. The exams have a variety of answer formats, such as multiple choice, short answer, and fill-in-the-blank.
